By accessing or playing Battle For The Strait of Hormuz (the "Game"), operated by Paul Danowski Design Studio ("we," "us," "our"), you agree to these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Game.
Battle For The Strait of Hormuz is a grid-based naval strategy game offering single-player play against a computer opponent and online multiplayer between two devices, including in-game text chat during online matches.
The Game is intended for players 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. See the Privacy Policy's Children's Privacy section below.
The Game has no accounts or passwords. When you play online, your browser is given an anonymous identifier so the two players in a match can be kept apart; it is not linked to your name, email, or any other account. You may choose an optional callsign, which is shown to your opponent. Do not use your real name or anything offensive as a callsign.
When using online play or chat, you agree not to:
We may block access to online play or remove chat content for violating this section, at our discretion and without prior notice.
Anything you type into in-game chat, and your callsign, is shown to the other player in your match and stored with that match until it is deleted (see Privacy Policy). Do not share anything you would not want visible to a stranger. We do not actively monitor chat in real time, but reserve the right to review, remove, or act on reported content.
The Game's code, design, artwork, story, and overall presentation are owned by Paul Danowski Design Studio or used under license, and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, redistribute, decompile, or create derivative works from the Game except as permitted by these Terms or applicable law.
All ship artwork was created by Paul Danowski in Adobe Illustrator and is original work, owned by Paul Danowski Design Studio.
The Game is a work of fiction and political satire. Characters that depict or resemble real public figures are caricatures used for parody and commentary. The Game is not endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with any person depicted, and its story, quotes, and events are invented.
Sound effects used in the Game are stock audio sourced from Pixabay, used under the Pixabay Content License. That license permits commercial use without attribution, but does not allow selling or redistributing the unaltered audio files on their own, and does not permit using them in a way that implies endorsement by the original creator. These audio files are used under that license's terms; they are not licensed to end users for extraction, reuse, or redistribution outside the Game.
"Battleship" is a registered trademark of Hasbro, Inc., unaffiliated with this Game. Battle For The Strait of Hormuz is an independently created game; the underlying grid-guessing gameplay concept itself is not owned by any single party, but the Game is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Hasbro, and does not use Hasbro's logo or trade dress.
THE GAME IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE GAME WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, Paul Danowski Design Studio SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE GAME. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE GAME SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF $50 USD OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Paul Danowski Design Studio from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the Game.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Game at any time, with or without cause. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification) will survive.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Game after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States of America, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
